David Boles and Janna Sweenie were approached by Wiley to write a Dummies book for Baby Signs. Boles and Sweenie are generally against writing "Stupid Books" but thought they would give the series a try if they could quickly come to terms with Wiley. After weeks of back-and-forth with no contractual end in sight, and on their agent's recommendation, the authors created this revised Baby Signs pitch -- Baby Signs for Everybody -- for a different publisher and then realized the Baby Signing fad had finished.
